What’s Going In The Garden

Breadcrumb Navigation

It’s cold again. At least this is temporary and hopefully the last cold snap of the season. I have starts that need to go in the garden! They are getting too large and I would rather put them in the ground than transplant them to another pot.

I will wait for the cold snap to end, then I will start planting. Currently, in the garden, we have: carrots, beets, garlic, onions, Kennebec potatoes, Red potatoes, lettuces and daikons. I will be transplanting to the garden in to next week or so: Cherokee Purple, Roma and Amish Potatoes, more lettuce, Jalapeno, Poblano, Big Red sweet, Golden California Wonder sweet, and Purple Beauty sweet peppers, tomatillos, celery, cilantro, and Yellow Pear and Red Cherry tomaotes.

After I get those in as my timing allows, I will be adding beans (green, wax and drying), cantaloupe, popcorn, cucumbers (both slicing and pickling), Jerusalem Artichoke, oregano, parsley, pumpkin, sage, summer squash, winter squash, sunflowers, sweet potatoes, thyme and watermelons. Whew! If all goes well, we will have an abundance to bring to market along with our chicken and eggs!
