What’s the holdup?

What’s the holdup? Why don’t I have chicken, eggs and goat available like I usually do?

Well, things have been a bit unusual, wouldn’t you say? Covid-19 has changed the way we do things. It has effected my supply chain both positively and negatively. It has also effected my ability to participate in Feed Apex, since the Apex Farmers Market is not yet open.

Eggs are flying off the shelf for me. I cannot keep them in stock. I’ve had an ongoing wait list for eggs that’s been a week long for about 2 months now and is only now beginning to settle down.

Issues at the slaughterhouse has changed my goat availability this year. I’m not sure when I’ll have more available. I’ll be sure to let you know when I do though.

Chicken is my most popular product and we got off to a bumpy start. I usually get my first round of baby chicks around the middle of February. This year it was going to be late February before any were available. Then I found out it would be late March! I quickly picked up a couple to get me started and thought all would be good. Certainly my chick supplier wouldn’t have problems! Well, I was wrong. I found out mid month that my late March chicks weren’t available. Another mad scramble and I found chicks available April 9, almost 2 months after my usual February start. UGH! All is good now! We are cruising along and chicks are growing. The ball is finally rolling and I should have chicken available by June 6 and ongoing through the season. Thanks for bearing with us while we get everything straightened out for feeding you and us.

At this point, we anticipate having turkeys for the holidays as usual! Fingers crossed that all continues on as planned!

Stay healthy Friends!
